Looking for a place to play a round of golf in Jamaica? Negril Hills in Negril, Westmoreland is an awesome course!
We travel to Negril every year with a group of friends. All the guys and a few of us girls are golfers. We are also on a budget. Yes, we’re actually IN paradise but that doesn’t mean we are not all watching what we spend.
Luckily there is a beautiful course within ten minutes of Travellers Resort, our hotel on Norman Manley Blvd, the main strip in Negril—Negril Hills Golf Course.
We all brought down extra sets of golf clubs a few years ago, and leave them at a friends house down there, but you can also rent clubs right at the course for a reasonable price.
Book an early tee-time if possible—unless you’re from the Sahara and the heat doesn’t bother you. It gets hot and it gets hot early in the day!
Negril Hills Gold Club is a beautiful 18 hole public course. The name itself suggests it is very hilly. The par 5’s are challenging, but if you hit a good drive you can get on in two when hitting downhill. Uphill shots are very challenging though.
Every hole is a signature hole. Peacocks and many different types of birds can be seen throughout play. There are trees everywhere, and every view has a breathtaking view of the mountains. Caddies are very helpful and really know their course.
This course if very reasonably priced and very easy to get to via a short taxi ride from anywhere in and around Negril. I highly recommend booking a tee-time at Negril Hills at least once on your vacation! The golfers in our group make it a point to golf here each and every year.
